Platforms like Twitter, Google, and – until now, apparently – Facebook are protected from the legal consequences of their users’ speech by section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. Facebook even makes reference to section 230 later in its motion, suggesting that it is trying to have its cake and eat it too.

Yes, there are even some 'hear plays' I've seen because it only had photos as video, probably those lost ones.

But for todays stuff, you can even download The Darkman Trilogy in 1080p with ease as pirate, so it will be around somewhere, even the streaming content.

But a bigger issue he might be right about, is like with the books: Writers sold the rights to books to the 'producer/publisher' and now years later the book are gone and the publishers doesn't want to reprint but the fans want it (think like reading it to your children or something) and the writer (who is still alive) can't help them out. Like wise with the streaming content, the content is there and options for the creators to stream it are easy enough (see otv for example, pump in 10,000$ and you can crack out a simple streaming platform) BUT the license holders (like Disney-, amazone dime, etc. [intentional joke names]) because they are now producing shows, will not allow it.

Joker — which was written by Phillips and Scott Silver — doesn’t have a plot; it’s more like a bunch of reaction GIFs strung together. When Arthur gets fired from his clown job, he struts by the time-clock, deadpans, “Oh no, I forgot to punch out” and then, wait for it, socks it so hard it dangles from the wall. Make a note of the moment, because you’ll be seeing it a lot in your Twitter and Facebook feeds.

There is nothing left but an empty shell if you shill for Facebook AND Twitter in such a obvious "Hey kids, see I'm cool too with all these Internetz Technologies"-way. It really feels like the writer wants to do a 'better joker' with it's sick-ass joke skills:

I wouldn't say anything that could SAVE FUCKING 14 YEAR OLD GIRLS FROM BEING FUCKED BY CREEPY OLD FUCKS! because le money, you know, money!!! MONEY! Money == rape of children in the politics of the USA {from Cinton to Trump, at least})

Maybe writers should write shit they get told 'via via' what the actors/directors/whatever have done and make them real uncomfortable, I bet some actors (like Keanu) are in for that as well, to act that all out... Hey Cosby, what if you drugged that young girl and 'pretend to rape her', have some "to catch a predator crew" stand by for the "hey Cosby, you just acted out this scene, seemed familiar!?" and Flame it all with a sauce of 'everybody was shocked'... and then some deranged gun-holder walked in and killed just the one person.

Porn isn't cool, you're not cool, it's all just meh at best, get over it, in the USA it's a thing to get prostitution going (LOL there is a camera, it's porn, not prostitution). I like the Final Fantasy (except 7 and beyond 9), Ace attorney, nonary and Persona games mostly for their stories. (If it can I do like the original Japanese voices as they sound better acted usually). But mostly not that much for games, more into puzzle ones.

So no, but I appreciate craftsmanship. And this OST has a few catchy tunes than go well for background music when I social company who don't like my usual music.

The intro-animation of the game (as seen in the first half of the song) is great and the song basically represents the whole game.

The lyrics aren't all on point in the subtitles, done by a fan and the Japanese accent blurs the lines between some words. This doesn't make the singing less impressive.

Back in 2013(?) it was just in the news that Obama got inaugurated for his second term (might have been end of 2012) anyway, winter time. I was introduced to 'The Apprentice' and while smoking a joint I watched it and proclaimed to the dude who set it on: Dude, this guy should be the American President: He is exactly how the world views America.

We laughed and when Trump entered the race for republican candidate years later I tried to contact that dude, but alas, I was on my own freaking out. But it made it easier to call out crimes of America somehow, Trump may be 'weird' but the policy is all the same. Like Obama following up on Bush and (even though he got the Nobel peace prize right after he became president [which was weird to say the least]) went on and became Drone-bomber number 1. while the media was like 'he a good guy' - nah just another warlord, killing civilians for resources.

What Europeans think of the American people is another story and most of the Europeans understand that stupid American tourists aren't the representation of the people, So I would guess like normal people only with the weird custom of 'asking how you are' but not wanting the answer because it is a greeting somehow.

Oh, it was really a prank :p OC was hired by (presumably) the Mother like some advanced type of Clown care. He sets out to do the ultimate prank.

Chip watches a lot of movies (bedridden presumably) and she at least knows Fight Club as OC talks to her as 'space monkey'.

I tried to do a M night shalamdingy! making it seem like some messed up assassination until the end. It was just shitgas, like those 'shit-sprays'. And changing the world is what Clown care tries to do.

So what happens next: The dad gets to hear the whole story at dinner time (How Chip planned it out for over a month in secret with the help of OC): tears, pride and laughs are to be had. Th governor probably has a cool story to tell his security detail or use it for campaign anecdote. Chip dies a few months later.

EDIT: about the death's door, I recently saw a small part of some docu about Clown Care in The Netherlands and was like, that could be more bad-ass.

If you can walk there are always (especially corporate) WEP-encrypted networks nearby to get the high-data-flux needs ;)

It's not stealing: it's making use of a network that's being kept up past midnight while noone is in office, just redirecting the electrical energy flow to something constructive and sharing it with real homeless peeps for fun.

I'm still on 3G with my phone (it does support 4G but) the ehm.. contract(?) I have with the provider is 1 euro a month cheaper with 3G instead of 4G and I only have 1000Mb a month so I won't be watching youtube HD anyway.

It's not needed and like those foxnews peeps said: it's about some trade deals and stuff, not real needs.. 2G was enough to have fast text-chats and voice-chats (in phone quality) at. It's all about the money and... LOCATION gathering. Aka Surveillance Capitalism.

But I'm pretty much like Erik (the sober narorator through this journey).. big money peeps be doing their big money things anyway regardless of my intellect, insight and needs of the people.

I do prefer Ethernet cables over wifi, but my phone and 2ds don't have a hole for that :/

I thought that much because I saw that podcast post too.

But you're kinda (just a little) making your short, as a short, a little less short because this is outside info. A short's hidden, or just often overlooked, power is that it doesn't have much lore because of the format. This gives the readers a lot of imaginative freedom about the the 'world' it is set in:

As an example: I thought up an America that went bankrupt or otherwise collapsed (from the trade war with CHINA) so that Canada took over/absorbed it and the Border Patrol was a group of Arizonians that named themselves that (because in Canada it would be called Border Mounties or something).

Great dark story with the biggest mystery: How was Ignacio kept alive in the USA healthcare system with no one to pay for him? 15 years is a lot even for rich fundamentalist/conservative Christians...

Also the 'act' of him being there for his sister, how much and what kind of impact would that have on the life of his sister going forward? How did his family go through the 17 years of presumably not knowing what happened? What impact would this meeting have on the public when the video leaks/is broadcasted?

For what reason did the reporter (probably) set this meeting up? Just for click-bait, genuine care, or some mixture of both or even more?

Great short-story inspired considerations/overthinking does this story spring. Glad this is the first post.

No, I didn't read 'about the author' because I usually don't care :)

But I doesn't surprise me, a lot of eastern thinking influence and not a GRR/JRR (Martin/Tolkien) Whites only fantasy world.

HAHA! Oh woow, I didn't know I was on the spot with my Carl Jung, It thought of it as a happy coincidence both name apparently the same thing 'shadow'.

Well the 'returning' part is debatable and I would even say (with my knowledge) that that is the whole 'problem':

The demiurge/Yaldaboath/etc. Keeps these divine sparks trapped within the material world/universe. Death doesn't mean you escape: the spark is still trapped.

Now there are a lot of things that could be happening in the reality by the doing of these sparks and one I like is that it tries to mimicry it's way out of the simulation (calling it that for easiness sake) by making the simulation reflect the divine and then as last final step making either the material world part/into the divine or making the sparks realize that the simulation can't get better and the divine is the only way etc.

Though the 'escaping' has nothing to do with death nor 'the circle of life'.

Left Under..

Great actor, in Counterpart and in the last Season of legion (As Xavier!).

But I'm so glad I never wasted time on GoT, I've seen rage in peoples eyes when they talked about the final few episodes :p Don't get sucked in by softcore porn: That's when you know it's bad.

And Yeah I did see all of sense8 and yeah it does feature the GoT level of nudity (and I'm sure more real sexual representation hat normal people may have and not shit out a burning skeleton afterwards[I saw that scene when I walked in on peeps watching it]) but in a normal human fashion way, that's just the relationship instead of LotR with flaccid penises and boobs. I don't mind nudity but (I saw 1-3 episodes) it seemed so misplaced, like Harry Potter jacking off.

EDIT: I used to have this joke pretending to spoil GoT because I presumably read the books (which I did NOT): I said: "In the end they will find out that the wings of =the dragon, when dried, crushed and snorted up would provide a stiffening effect of the penises of te men who then could continue their lives NOT PUSHING ROPE!"

It was a great joke because everyone first thinks I'm really spoiling it and then they realize I make fun of the flaccid peepees! floppy weiners xD Has someone ever seen a peepee go flacid the second they pull out!? I admit I did see a youtube aproved compilation of flaccid penises once, I guess around season 4-5-6(? ) and found out it wasn't a selective cut, there are no Boners in 8 seasons xD

Again, also not in sense8, but the sex stuff was a lot more normal/classy/appropriate IMHO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U7NpSubAJQ

The following will be my observations, my likes and my one dislike of the story in hopefully a ordered order:

The beginning of the book foreshadows (See what I did there?) that there is a 'Deed of Ged' and many songs about him, but this story is set before those great deeds. The story ends with a summary how the story is changed and 'mistold' among the isles about what happened and to who(m?) except that at least one person sailed the open seas. I liked that.

The Magic being driven by the context of the user and the power related to the need of the magic was nice. It's easy yet complicated, though not as broken as 'Harry Potter'-magic. The explanation Ged gave the sister of Vetch about the 'pies' and his boats was great, even better than the Roke island explanation(s). The equilibrium, meaning of words and the silence was all explained in snippets throughout the story that made it interesting yet only meaningfull if you were open for it, like Zen-Koans and Taoist tales. It was explained when needed for the story to make sense, but it didn't contradict itself and it wasn't some easy-way out story wise in my humble opinion.

The shadow and the ending made me think a lot of Carl Jung's shadow archetype. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_(psychology) Quoting the wiki which sums it up in a better way than I think I can:

Carl Jung stated the shadow to be the unknown dark side of the personality. According to Jung, the shadow, in being instinctive and irrational, is prone to psychological projection, in which a perceived personal inferiority is recognized as a perceived moral deficiency in someone else. Jung writes that if these projections remain hidden, "The projection-making factor (the Shadow archetype) then has a free hand and can realize its object—if it has one—or bring about some other situation characteristic of its power." These projections insulate and harm individuals by acting as a constantly thickening veil of illusion between the ego and the real world.

As Ged summoned a spirit from dead (Lady something) to impress Jasper and poured all his 'power' in it and nobody knew what he summoned up, the black/dark thing that attacked him. What the shadow was was not a 'thing from the darkness' but he gave life to his own darkness.

The ending itself might be seen as lame, but it's a better coming of age story than any 'fight the baddy and win' ending. Recognizing and living with your own shadow instead of running away from it and seeing it in others is a big theme in many main- and non-mainstream religions and practices.

I disliked the descriptions of the map of the world, but that's my personal tick about those kind of things.

All in all a nice short read and reminiscent of old myths in the way it was told, good introduction into philosophy and, if the connection is made, Taoism for children. Not preachy about morals but more centered around the personal journey. I give it a light out of darkness.
